HOLLAND Readers's Tips -
My first thought was to tell you not to bother going to Amsterdam with the descriptions you give of the local population, you should just stay home.hy are you even thinking of going is beyond me Isn't that the whole point of travelling to see and experience other cultures.aybe Disneyworld would be better.
I was in Amsterdam last year for 4 days, too short. was through the main train station and trolley area many times and did not notice any of the other things you are talking about and I am a very mature, independant traveller, I never once did not feel safe. stayed outside the city as I had a hotel on my points, but was 1 block from the train and tram stations.
Everything is very quick and efficient, everyone spoke english and were very helpful.y favourite snack was the falafel stand just by the canal and train station.
Try www.stelworld.m for budget hotels or hostels, I have used them the past 4 years and have found them to be inexpensive but clean, don't expect the same of even Motel 6 for ammenities.nnette Canuk
I was in Amsterdam a couple of years ago and I enjoyed the experience. There are many decent lodgings available within a block of the tram lines that are reasonably priced. However the lodgings are European, not American, so they are quite a bit smaller than the Holiday Inn you may be used to.But they are clean and the help is friendly.

ackervWhat do you consider decent; inexpensive; and near Someone might be able to make a suggestion if you tell them your definitions.
We stayed in a very nice Bandamp;B within 15 minutes of the train station by foot or combination of tram and walkingfor around 85 euro a night, double, including breakfast. We never felt unsafe in the neighborhood. We really enjoyed the brown cafes in the city. The van Gogh museum was my favorite, while my spouse enjoyed anything Rembrandtrelated.
You are not merely politically incorrect; you are not correct at all.You were 'told a few things' By whom You didn't just say 'unsavory characters', you named specific et
