HOLLAND Readers's Tips - If these are the biggest problems you encountered on your vacation you really need to develop some sort of perspective on life.Details change all the time and part of travel is learning to roll with the punches. What if the trains went on strike and you couldn't get to the next town Couldn't cancel your hotel reservsation and couldn't find a place to stay where you are What if you were in a car accident What if you had been stuck abroad on 9/11 (You sound like the tourist we met in Florence who woulnd't eat the sandwich unless she knew it was made with Hellman's mayo I imagine she starved to death by the end of her trip

I dont think there is anything wrong with someone being dissapointed in inaccuracies in a book. The reason one buys a book is to get info on topics you dont know about and rely on for travel info.f you didnt want the info you would just travel to a spot and hit the tourist bureau for all info.I do that anyway even when I do have a book.The book should give you some ideas(accurate ones that you can use to better utilise your time if you are on a time limit. Everyone wants the biggest bang for their buck Travel books should be updated every year in my opinion.If they are not physically reprinted every year, it might be a good idea to have an online update for the changes that had occurred in that year.Under the restaurant section would be a list of closed restaurants, new ones they recommend, and anything else that would be beneficial such as new opening/closing hours. I spend lots of time browsing through the travel books, and like to think the the information is current.

Let's put this in prospective: hundreds of tourist books out there and you complain because Cheap Hotel Guide's said the Western Church is open when you thought it would be closed, the museum boat was 30 minutes later than you thought and you couldn't climb the Old Church tower.What happened to the thousands of other amazing things that Amsterdam has to offer including all the museums, Anne Frank House, the windmills, the beautiful architecture, the ambience, etc You need to be a little more flexible while traveling . maybe this was your first trip to Europe
