HOLLAND Readers's Tips -
Use this site (click for trains.t takes 3 and189; hours each way, so you have to get going early.he 06:23 departure from Amsterdam Centraal only requires one transfer en route, in AntwerpBerchem, and gets you there at 09:57.
I am not familiar with coach tours on that route.
That would be quite a long haul for a day trip.We enjoyed Bruges a lot, but I don't know if I'd go that far for just a few hours in the city. We're on our way to Rome in April 2004 with an 8 hour layover in Amsterdam.oes anyone have any suggestions for what we can do, where to go, how long we need for train trips in and back to the airport and which train we need to take to get anywhere This is our first time and hopefully not our last.
Thanks much.
Why leave Amsterdam There is plenty to do and see in the city itself.ere a few suggestions: Catch a canal boat outside the train station and take a onehour ride.t will give you a sense of the city.etter, yet just stroll down the Damrak, the main avenue leading to the city center and check out the street musicians and actors at the National Monument.here's some great little side streets in the area.f you want to go outside the city, a train ride to Haarlem, a great little town with a beautiful church, might be the ticket.
